EMPLOYMENT PREP/INTERNSHIP I
This course provides students with skills to obtain an entry-level
job, as well as to keep and grow on that job. Paid on-the-job
experiences are obtained by working in area businesses including,
but not limited to: State Farm Corporate and Regional Offices, AFNI,
retail stores, various medical facilities, certain service
establishments and other businesses requested by the student. These
experiences are combined with classroom theory giving students
fundamental knowledge relating to work and work issues. Students
are encouraged to participate in Skills USA on the local, state and
national levels. This course is open to all students of junior or
senior status who are 16 years of age, who have an acceptable
attendance record and who have demonstrated a willingness and desire
to be successful on the job. Successful completion of this class
satisfies the Illinois State Consumer Education requirement and
offers a PE exempt. Whatever your career interest, you can enjoy
opportunities that come with working alongside professionals who can
help you learn more about your field of interest. EMPLOYMENT PREP/INTERNSHIP II Dual Credit with Heartland Community College Students in this sequence will enhance skills and continue building upon those learned in Employment Prep/Internship. More advanced on-the-job experiences are obtained by working in area businesses. These experiences are combined with classroom theory giving the student working knowledge of employment from a managerial point of view. Students will earn income while working in a career of their choice and will connect more directly with that profession. Continued professional growth through Skills USA projects is encouraged. |
